The Creative New Quilts and Projects hop continues!

Today's stop on the hop is Carol, from MooseStash Quilting.  I love her project, so you want to check it out and enter to win a copy of Wendy Sheppards book - Creative New Quilts and Projects for precuts and stash!  Speaking of giveaways, I really apologize for the issue with my rafflecopter gizmo yesterday.  Make sure you complete your entry if you haven't already - I will try to make sure that everyone who commented on my blog yesterday is entered, but it would help if you can do it yourself just in case.  Remember this giveaway is for US addresses only as Lauderdale is doing the shipping!

Yesterday I worked some more on a project I took on earlier this month.  Here is the picture of the completed quilt from the website:

It's a pretty quilt - lots of y-seams, but I can deal with those.  The worst part of this quilt was cutting it out!  It is made from a jelly roll, and there were was a color chart and a color illustration of the three different blocks, plus partial blocks, but that was it.  Trying to keep all the strips organized and cut out the pieces was a nightmare.  I tried cutting out a sample block, but it was too crazy trying to pull the strips out of the pile and get them back in order again.  So I got out those design boards I made and used them to cut out all the pieces at once.

They give this quilt an intermediate rating, but I think it should be advanced.  I finished a couple blocks yesterday after finishing the cutting and they look great so far!  I'm looking forward to filling my design wall as I go, I know it will be beautiful.

Happy St. Patrick's day :)
This is my Floral Irish Chain quilt - one of the few green quilts I've made!  This pattern was one of the first I wrote - it's almost a mini with the pieced blocks that make up this quilt being only 5 inches square - that makes the individual pieces finishing at 1 inch.  The great thing is that it's all strip pieced so you are never handling individual squares.  That makes it a lot easier.  I think strip piecing is really one of my favorite techniques.

I have several quilts waiting to be quilted today, so I guess I'd better get busy - hope your day is a good one!

This book looks fun- I see a few projects already I would love to make! I am working in some lush greens right now for a quilt for my daughter's teacher and I am realizing how much I like green yet how little green is in my stash! Thank you!

Green used to be my favorite color in high school and college. Hey, it was the 90s and grunge (not the Moda line of fabric, but the music and flannel outta Seattle) and forest green was IN. Somewhere along the way since then, I found my true love: BLUE. Blue is very now as well as futuristic. Blue is calm and deep, light and floaty - blue is everything! So, St. Patty's Day is a bit challenging for me, but I still like kelly green, lime green, grass green, and olive. There's still a lot of green to like, but I'm still in love with blue!

I use my blog as a journal to keep a record of the quilts and quilty projects I make. I keep a graph paper notebook as a journal of my doodling and FMQ designs used on all my projects. I love Wendy's blog ~ lots of great tips ~ and would love to win her new book.

I started a journal once when I was a teenager. I think I kept up with it the whole month of January and then sporadically over the next couple of months and then that was it. I wish I would have been a journal writer, though, it would be neat to see how I have changed over the past decade or so. My favorite color is blue, but I love to quilt with all colors, it just depends on my mood. I work on batiks quilts and then I get tired of that and work on my Civil War era reproduction quilts, I don't have a set style, I love them all.

I used to keep a journal when I was struggling with finding myself. With maturity, I've stopped journaling...I hate to leave written evidence of what's on my mind....no telling who will read it one day! LOL kmcassie@gmail.com

Now that my children are grown I don't keep a journal. I read my old ones and thought I should trash them. They are good for getting one through the rough times. I fixed hubby corned beef and cabbage. He ate alone I went off to a guild meeting. Must have been good there wasn't any left when I got home.

I kept a journal when I traveled with a drama group for a season. I have kept one for a few trips, but it is not a continual thing with me. I love working with all shades of blue, but I just love lots of color.
Since we are going to a play tonight, I will probably make something quick, like tuna salad.

This book looks really fun! I used to keep a journal, before the kids starting coming. :) I think I would like to make a quilt journal where I can write some of my ideas and keep them handy.

I keep a journal. I used to be really diligent about it and then baby #2 happened, and then baby #3... I have become progressively sloppier when it comes to keeping records!
